Description
Up for auction is a rare professional 1938 Selmer Paris Balanced Action alto saxophone. The pads and corks are in fair condition and need to be replaced soon for good playing condition or overhauled for optimal performance. There are no major dents present and several minor dings don't affect performance. Also, there is a noticeable dent under the thumbrest and a small patch next to the thumbrest. This alto saxophone has scratches throughout from normal use and lacquer wear is noticeable, with approximately 60% of lacquer intact(lacquer may not be original). The bell body brace appears to have been soldered at some point in time, is loose again and probably can be repaired. There is noticeable engraving detail on the bell/bow and the serial number is in the 25,xxx range, which dates the year of manufacture to approximately 1938. The neck has no visible serial number and no major pull down. Included is a used non-original Selmer wood shell alto saxophone case(interior is intact, both handles are in good condition, latches catch, exterior has minor wear from normal use and no strong odors, case edges are coming loose). The case has a built in area to hold a flute headjoint/body/footjoint and an area for a Selmer "shaped" clarinet case(not included) which should fit inside the alto sax case. A body end plug is also included. The pictures provided are part of the description and this is being sold in "as-is" condition. No mouthpiece is included.
