Bauhinia monandra or the Pink Orchid is a S mall Fast Growing, Evergreen Tree or Shrub that Commonly Reaches 8-12 Feet in Height and 1 Foot in Diameter but can Reach a Height of 22' Tall at Maturity in it's Natural Environment. Its Smooth, Gray Bark can Become Scaly and Reddish Brown on Older Trees. This Tree is Widely Grown as an Ornamental in the Tropics, & Valued Especially for it's often Continuous Beautiful Pink Flowering Display. They can Easily be Grown Indoors with Enough Heat and Light as well for anyone that live in Cooler Climates. Zones 10-12 Pink Orchard Germination: 1) Scarify the seeds by rubbing with rough grit sandpaper until the hard shell will absorb water. (Not too deep) 2) S oak the seeds overnight in hot water. Use a thermos so it will stay warm as long as possible. 3) Sow the seeds 1-2 cm deep in sandy well drained potting soil, placed in a warm position and kept moist, not soaking wet. Using a heated propagator mat to keep the soil at 77 degrees F. is a must. 4) Cover with a humidity dome, or a small piece of plastic with a few small holes cut into it. This will help hold the heat and humidity in for them. 5) Germination should occur within 3-4 weeks but it can take longer as with most any tropical seeds, so don't give up.
