UP FOR SALE IS purple flowering Teasel. Dipsacus Fullonum. Teasel is a beautiful plant that is very easy to grow. The first year it makes a rosette of leaves. The second year it can grow to almost 7' tall and has a unique flower head. It flowers first from a purple ring around the middle of the large cone-like head. The ring of flowers grow in width over a few days, the center of the blooming section may die off leaving two rings, one growing towards the top and one towards the bottom of the cone. several long, leaf-like bracts branch out from the base of the flower and curve upward around the flower head. the egg shaped flower head measures 3-4" long. once they are finished blooming the flower head dries leaving a spectacular egg shaped spiny ball with unusual long thin arms surrounding it. these can be collected for dried flower arrangements that last forever. plant in sunny areas, with well drained soil. they need little or no care, are fairly drought tolerant and deer and rabbit resistant. let them reseed for future plants or collect the seed heads to control spreading. biennial Zone: 3-8 Sun: full sun Water: regular to low Soil: rich, well draining soil.
