Description

This is an offering for a live section of root from wild harvested Alaska Lupine plants. AK wild lupine are much hardier than many nursery stocks which are sensitive to transplant. You can kick them , run them over with a tractor and they will still grow. The downside is you better be sure you want them as they are gonna STICK. These plants took over much of Iceland. Please do responsible research before ordering these. You can check Youtube videos "Iceland/AK Lupine". Lupine is a very easy to grow perennial ornamental flower native to most of North America. This seed should be regarded as mixed variety as it has been wild harvested in South Central Alaska and most Lupine found here are perennial hybrids. It will self seed once established. Can become a little invasive if left to its own devices. Plants prefer a moist soil but it can also tolerate drought. Can grow in poor soil as they are a nitrogen fixer. Also can be used as a cover crop. I sell these as part of my do it yourself fertilizer mix. By growing comfrey, Lupine and Stinging nettle you can make your own full spectrum fertilizer from scratch. I also sell Comfrey and Stinging Nettle which you can find in my other listings. Seeds are regarded as edible by some but do require soaking and cooking as most uncooked legumes are toxic to some degree. Raw Lupine seeds are highly toxic. Lupines grow well in poor soil where other plants will not survive. They are a great crop for extracting phosphates from the soil as their root systems form symbiotic relations with phosphate extracting fungi. The plants can then be used as a green manure or part of a compost tea. This offering is for 4 live root sections. Seeds tend to have low viability. These roots should flower this year versus the two years starting from seed. It may take me several days to a week to locate roots as I often have to travel to find them. Please be patient. I guarantee every delivery with healthy plants. I can get literally any amount of these. You may contact me for a bulk order at a better price. I offer combined shipping on this and most items I sell. Simply add all items to your cart , checkout and you should be given only one small shipping charge. If you ever have an issue with your purchase PLEASE contact me before leaving feedback or opening a case. I am totally open to offers on this one. I can get as many as you want. If you want to plant some really large acreage with a proven nitrogen fixer this is a good and cheap option. I can do a bulk rate on as many as I can fit in a flat rate box or as many as you need. You can see the amount of nitrogen fixing nodules on these roots.
