Description

These were produced in a limited quantity in Elkhart, in the early 1980s, and were roughly based on the Couf Superba 1 altos. The bells and bows were ordered in different sheet metal than their Couf counterparts, and I've been told before that the owner of Conn at the time, Daniel Henkin, ordered these with a custom bore and had them assembled with tweaked and custom keywork, but I've never looked into that. This horn has just been regulated and fully seals under the weight of the keys alone. It's a fantastic horn that is super sturdy. The construction is compact but heavy. These horns are tanks. The keywork is light but still responsive. Included is a nice protec tri-pac style case. It fits this horn great, and it's a nice addition. For gigs, it's nice to have the flute built in, but I’ve got another much more compact case I could swap this one for if interested. It's a really great player. I play on a yanagisawa now, but for a fraction of the cost, this horn plays just as well, just with a different core sound. Definitely a little darker for reference.
