Description
Since I know nothing about Saxophones, I've included as many photos as I think are necessary to describe this instrument. The serial number appears to line up with the instruments produced from 1945-1946. It is in fairly decent shape for a 78 year old instrument. My grandmother bought it for my dad, who played it for a few years, and then passed it down to his little brother who did the same. It sat for a decade before it was passed down to me. I took lessons as a boy for a month before I packed it away in 1977, and I've never played it since. It's just moved with me everywhere since then as I thought someday I'd give it a go again. It has most of the original pads, but some felt is missing. It has one small dent about on the bottom forward side of the J, and it's pretty scratched up in spots. The case lock still latches but I never had the key. I've been as accurate as I can be but hopefully the pictures will explain anything I've missed or don't understand well. I will say that the case has a musty smell to it. Always has. It doesn't smell like blue cheese, just a musty smell that I've never smell elsewhere. It's not putrid, just weird. Doesn't really bother me but I know some folks go crazy with even the slightest of smells. One side of the case handle broke as I moved it during the picture taking. :( I'm putting a low starting bid on this because the cost of shipping this is kinda pricey, and I just want it to go to someone who will play it. . Also, there isn't a Fedex store near me, and I can't find where to add it to this listing (sorry, I'm pretty terrible at this) so I'm not adding it as a shipping option.
