Butterfly bush is a semi evergreen shrub of about 12' tall with grey-green foliage. in late summer and early fall its arching canes bear at their tips long, 6-10", cones of densely packed, wonderfully perfumed, lavender flowers with an orange eye in the center. they are very attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. they are very fast growing and will bloom their second year, first year if planted early indoors. they can be invasive. check with the invasive plant list for your area. p erennial bush.
