Royal family sweet peas, heat resistant flowers are sure to please. How to Care for Sweet Pea Flower Vines Vines top out at 6-10 ft long. Space plants 1/2 a foot apart. Plants require fertile soil mix with plenty of nutrients. Once established, fertilize with a weak or diluted general purpose fertilizer weekly or bi-weekly for the best results. Germination Procedure: Knick the outer shell coating on the seed once with a knife or a clipper. Soak the seeds 24 hours to soften the seed. The seeds should swell. If you see no swelling then soak them once again. Once the seeds look swollen, plant them just under the surface of the soil after frost has passed and once temperatures are at least 55 degrees. Germination time: 1-2 weeks.
