This listing is for a package of 50+ Salpiglossis Black Trumpets seeds. AKA Painted tongue. (Salpiglossis sinuata) Full sun preferred. Annual. *may reseed if allowed to do so for subsequent years blooms (zone dependent) The exquisite deep burgandy to purple almost black color and markings on these unique blooms are unmatched by any other flowers in our gardens. You must see them in person to believe it! The blooms almost shimmer with a metallic look in addition to their veining intricacies. Definitely show stoppers!! Excellent for container planting. Blooms beckon the butterflies for a visit. To grow, seed can be sown outside 1-2 weeks prior to your regions last frost date. Or for a jump start seed can be sown indoors up to 8 weeks before your regions last frost date. Transplanting not recommended. Seed requires complete darkness to germinate. Cover planting area with cardboard or similar. 2-3 weeks for germination. Plants prefer the cool weather months. We usually plant twice a year, once for a spring flush and then again for a fall flush of blooms.
