Description

MARSH BLAZING STAR. Native American wildflower. Dense spikes of tiny purple-pink flowers that bloom from the top down. The foliage is narrow, growing from each stem. Very similar to Liatris pycnostachya or Prairie Blazing Star. Will grow in heavy soils. Attracts birds, butterflies, bees. The showy purple feather like flowers can grow up to 5ft tall. Blooms mid-summer through fall.100+ Seeds per order. Some American Native Wildflower seeds need to go through a cold winter to germinate. This plant is one of them. They do this so the seed won’t sprout in fall, only to have the seedling not make it through a cold winter. I have stratified these seeds to simulate a cold winter(stratification) This raises the germination rate considerably. Thanks for looking!! Liatris spicata. Perennial. Full sun / P. sun. Spring, soil temp 68F+. SOW- 3/4 per, 1/16" deep, 6" apart. Keep moist. Germination 7-28 days. Thin to single best seedling. Use scissors to cut out unwanted sprouts. Medium water. Thin to 18". Height 3' to 5' x 18" wide. Flowers are Lavender. Blooms from mid-summer through fall.
